1. Who we are

ILivedHere is a UK tenant review platform. When we refer to "we", "us" or "our" in this policy we mean the operators of ILivedHere. You can contact us at admin@ilivedhere.uk

2. What data we collect

We collect the minimum data necessary to operate the platform:

• Email address — if you create an account or submit a review with an account
• Username — if you choose to create one
• Review content — the text, ratings and checkbox selections you submit
• Property address — the address associated with your review
• Approximate tenancy dates — if you provide them
• Photos — if you attach them to a review

If you submit a review without creating an account we create an anonymous session. We do not collect your name, phone number or any payment information.

3. How we use your data

We use the data we collect solely to operate the platform — displaying reviews, moderating content, and allowing you to manage your account. We do not sell your data, share it with third parties for marketing purposes, or use it for advertising.

4. Anonymity and reviews

Reviews are published without your name or email address attached. Your identity is not visible to other users or to letting agencies reading reviews.

However we cannot guarantee complete anonymity. A letting agency may be able to infer who wrote a review based on the tenancy dates and content. We recommend you consider this before including highly specific details that could identify you.

5. Legal disclosure

We will only disclose your personal data to third parties if required to do so by a valid court order from a Scottish court, however we will fight to the fullest extent to avoid providing any information about you. We will notify you before complying with any such order where we are legally permitted to do so, so that you may seek your own legal advice.

We will never voluntarily disclose your identity to a landlord or letting agency in response to a complaint about your review.

6. Data storage

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a trusted database provider with servers based in the EU. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit.

7. Data retention

We retain account data for as long as your account is active. If your account is inactive for more than 24 months we may delete it. Review content may be retained after account deletion as it forms part of the public record of the platform.

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the data we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate data, request deletion of your data, and object to how we process your data.

To exercise any of these rights email us at admin@ilivedhere.uk. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Cookies

We use only essential cookies necessary to keep you logged in and maintain your session. We do not use tracking, advertising or analytics cookies.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any significant changes will be communicated to registered users by email. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
